The Cathedral of the Transfiguration is a now abandoned modern cathedral located in Markham, Ontario, Canada


Built over a number of years beginning in 1984 by millionaire Slovak immigrant and founder of Dennison Mines, Stephen B. Roman, the Cathedral of the Transfiguration is a Slovak Byzantine Rite Roman Catholic cathedral located in Markham, Ontario, Canada. It became the first church in North America to be consecrated by a Pope, when John Paul II blessed the cornerstone during his trip to Canada Now abandoned the the former church is being used as a strange and bizarre centerpiece for a large housing development called Cathedraltown.
