Bangunan Dewan Perniagaan melayu Pulau Pinang, Penang Malay Chamber of Commerce Building, George Town

The 13-storey building was erected on the site that was formerly occupied by the Government Offices, much of which was destroyed by Allied bombings in 1945, with the remaining part being the Islamic Council Building. It is one of the few high-rise buildings in the inner part of George Town, and was built before the inner city became a World Heritage Site and height control was put in place. The Penang Malay Chamber of Commerce Building is mainly known as the premises of the Penang Inland Revenue Board, aka the Income Tax Department, or Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri Pulau Pinang. It faces the Light Street Roundabout, which the betel-nut sculpture.
