H., for several years prior to1864, when he was appointed Collector of Taxes for the city ofPortsmouth, which position he continued to fill until Shannon was a Representative in the New Hampshire Legis-lature in 1855, and Alderman of the City of Portsmouth in theyears 1880-81.
