The introducers say of this squash : " This sterling novelty origi- nated in Northern Vermont, and we think it the best winter squash of recent ; Although some- what like the Hubbard, this grand variety differs materially from that old and popular sort in being superior in point of size as well as in sweetness and color of flesh. The fruit is uniformly round, symmetrical and larger than the Hubbard, and has a beautiful netting of darker green instead of the wartiness of that variety. The rind is thin but hard, and the flesh very deep, orange red, without any of the objec- tionable green tinge near the rind so common in the best winter sorts. It cooks very quickly and evenly, and is the best of all squashes for pies. The vine is hardy, early and certain to mature the large crop it produces. Pkt. 5c, oz. 10c, i lb. 20c, lb. 65c. ^..Sibley, or Pike's Peak. The shell is pale in color, very hard and flinty, being at the same time thin and smooth, flesh is solid, thick, vivid, brilliant orange, and is possessed of rare edible qualities, being dry, and really wonderful for fineness of grain and the rich and delicate flavor peculiarly its own. A medium sized variety, fine grained and remarkably dry and sweet, with a delicious and distinct flavor. Color green, mottled white.
