Hishop Crane raised a largefamily and lived long enough to seemost of his children grow to man andwomanhood; and they are all faithfulmembers of the Church at the presenttime. His name is held in honorableremembrance by the Saints of Herri-man, who esteem him for his kindnessand nobility of character. He was awise and consistent leader and an ex-emplary Latter-day Saint. CRANE, James Staiinard, Bishopof Herriman Ward .since 1897, was bornMay 3, 1857, at Pulham. Norfolk, Eng-land, son of John L. Crane and Sarah. Stannard. He emigrated to Utah wi^nhis parents in 1866 and was baptizedby James Ashman in the 10th Ward,Salt Lake City, in 1867. He was an active member of the 10th Ward Sun-day school until 1870, when he movedto Herriman, where he soon became azealous worker in Church affairs, act-ing as Sunday school teacher and sec-retary of Y. M. M- I. A. He was or-dained a Priest Dec. 16, 1877, and setapart to attend to the administrationof the Sacrament in the Ward; or-dained an Elder Oct. 9, 1878, by John , and married Sarah Ann Dan-sie Oct. 11, 1878, by whom he has hadten children. Feb. 10, 1884, he wasordained a Seventy by Wm. W. Taylor,and he labored as a Ward teacher tillDec. 12, 1887, when he was ordained aHigh Priest and set apart to act assecond counselor to Bishop RobertDansie, This position he held untilJune 7, 1896,
