Castle Lews in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides.
Castle Lews was built in 1847-57 by the Glasgow architect Charles Wilson. It was built as a country house for Sir James Matheson who had recently purchased the entire island of Lewis with money made in the Chinese Opium trade. The listed building is now a museum and cultural centre.
