The Royal Mile at High Street in Edinburgh with the John Knox House to the right and traditional red telephone boxes to the left

Editorial use only. Part of the Royal Mile in Edinburgh stretching from Edinburgh Castle to the west to the Palace of Holyroodhouse to the east. This section shows the east end of the High Street where it meets Canongate. Traditional red telephone boxes are followed by a new bus stop. The building on the corner is the John Knox House and the grey building to the left thereof is The Scottish Storytelling Centre. The centre is dominated by kiltmakers shops. John Knox is known as the key person to establish protestantism as Scotland's religion in 1560.
