SASEBO, Japan (April 27, 2017) Cmdr. Jason R. Stumpf, from Crozet, Virginia, the air officer aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), gives a tour of the ship’s flight deck to members of the Japanese Self-Defense Force (JSDF) as part of a familiarization tour for the JSDF on amphibious capability. Bonhomme Richard and other ships and units of Commander, Amphibious Force 7th fleet, routinely partner with the JSDF to increase mutual understanding and interoperability to further strengthen the alliance.
