He was an ol^cer of militia in1775, and acting Adjutant at the Concord fight, it being his dutyto form the scjuads and companies into line as they arrived at theNorth Bridge. He was Captain of the Concord Light Infantryin 1780, and afterwards Major. He was Representative in 1780,81, 83 and 81:, Senator, 1785 to 1793, and member of the Con-stitutional Convention, 1788.
