"Private Gibbon, a photographer for the Signal Corps, took this photograph in December 1918. The image shows the area near Cote kilos northeast of Boureuilles, Meuse. In the foreground, there is an old trench line, and beyond that is the Boureuilles-Varennes-Avocourt road. In the background, Barbed wire entanglements built by Germans can be seen on Cote Vanquois. This area was captured by the 35th Division, 1st Army Corps on September 26, 1918, during the first phase of the Meuse-Argonne offensive."
