peace like the wind

"peace" carved with instruments and techniques pioneered and developed by Andrew van der Merwe since 2000. He calls it beach calligraphy or sand calligraphy. Andrew is an experienced, professional calligrapher, letter artist and designer. Artist statement: I deliberately set out here to avoid the clichéd sunset-reflected-on-calm-water type of scene. It was a cool but beautiful day and the rain and wind had swept the footprints from the beach. Some soft, low cloud took the edge off the sun while the wind took the edge off my carving.
