A Syrian shamshir, 19th century. Heavy single-edged, forged Damascus blade with deep fullers on both sides and a double-edged point. Silver-inlaid iron cross-piece, grip frame, and pommel. Horn grip scales with tin and brass inlays. Leather-covered wooden scabbard stitched with copper wire and with silver-inlaid iron mountings. Appended silk suspension cord (not associated). Beautiful condition.
