Provision has been made in the station layout for the installation of a third unit of the sameor larger capacity. There are two exciter sets, composed of37/<2-kw Westinghouse generators, each driven by a Buckeyesimple engine running at 300 r. p. m. The condensers for themain engines are of the surface type, Stilwell-Bierce-Smith-Vaile manufacture. Each engine has a separate condenser, butthe exaust piping is cross-connected so that either will handleeither engine. A Buncly vacuum oil separator is provided inthe exhaust of each engine operated in connection with a BOILER-ROOM AT WINCHESTER x 8-iri. x jo-in. vacuum pump. The live steam separators forthe exciter engines are Cochrane. There are two ro-in. x 6-in. x 12-in. boiler feed-pumps ofthe outside-end packed plunger type and having pot is a 6-in. x 8-in. x io-in. duplex piston pattern pump forpumping water to a 1600-hp Stilwell-Bierce open heater. A5y4_in- x 4-)4-in. x 5-in. duplex piston pattern pump provideswater to a supply tank for house purposes. A 16-in. x 9-in. x12-in. Underwriters fire pump takes care of the fire pumps, the heater and steam piping arc arranged back ofthe boilers, there being a space of about 9 ft. between the walland the back of the boilers. All of these pumps are Stilwell-Bierce-Smith-Vaile manufacture. Each is provided with aFisher governor, and they have cast-iron drip pans to catchall drip, pans being piped to drain. All governors are high-pressure receivers, heaters, steam headers, etc., aredrai
