The spiral arms (red) are seen radiating from the central oval nucleus (white). This galaxy lies on the outskirts of the Virgo Galactic Cluster, in the constellation Virgo. The Virgo Cluster is around 40 million light years from Earth and is the nearest major cluster of galaxies in the sky. This image was taken by the 4-metre telescope at the Kitt Peak National Observatory, USA.
