Hairy flower scarab beetles. Three hairy flower scarab beetles (Trichiotinus sp.) feeding on three flowers. These beetles are native to North America, where they are found inhabiting open areas with flowers, near woodland. They grow to around 1 centimetre in length. These beetles are only active during the day, when they are often found feeding on the nectar, pollen and petals of various flowers. The hairs may serve to keep the beetles warm during cold nights.
