This treatment is, however, better adapted to those joints having a lim-ited synovial membrane than to those where the membrane extends between. In the latter case it is often better to re-move the bones entire by aid of the chisel, saw, or gouge. In either instancecurved incisions are preferable, provided they do not divide important ten-dons and vessels (Fig. 423).
