The course is being taught for the first time entirely by Afghan national police (ANP) instructors. Prior to this class all ANP instruction was conducted by a police technical advisory team (PTAT) made up of Air Force security forces Airmen assigned to the Laghman Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT). The two week course is required in order for auxiliary members to become full-fledged ANP officers. The ANP instructors are competitively selected and must successfully complete an instructor development course taught at a regional training center (RTC).
