Yana Booth, aged 13, who had just joined the Bolshoi Ballet, the first British dancer to do so for more than 20 years. She was thwarted in her dream of becoming a ballerina because at the age of 18 she had grown to be six feet tall. Undeterred she entered and won the Miss Great Britain contest in 1992 and clinched a lucrative contract, modelling Pretty Polly stockings.
