Cray Y-MP8/864 Supercomputer, LLNL, 1990s


The Cray Y-MP8/864 went online in early 1993 in the Livermore Computer Center, at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. The computer ran the latest version of UNICOS, Cray's operating system. The machine featured eight processors, 64 million words of main memory, 256 million words of secondary memory, and billion words of attached disk space memory.
