Penis anatomy. Artwork of the anatomy of the penis, one of the male reproductive organs. Here, the penis has been separated into its two main internal tissues, the corpora cavernosa (red) and the corpus spongiosum (blue), the latter surrounding the urethra. At the head of the penis is the sensitive glans structure (blue, lower left). At right are the blood vessels that supply blood to the penis during an erection. As they fill, the corpora cavernosa press against the veins (blue), preventing blood from leaving and maintaining an erection.
