A South German late Gothic crossbow with horn prod, circa 1500 Sturdy prod made of horn and animal sinews, covered with parchment. Braided hemp bowstring of later date. Original prod anchors made of hemp cords. The slender tiller slightly bulging towards the middle, completely veneered in slightly fullered bone plates (the finial plate is a replacement). The inserted bolt channel is missing. The original bone nut is secured with cord. Single-axle trigger mechanism with a long, ridged trigger guard.
