Ugo Amaldi, Italian particle physicist. Since 1982, Amaldi has been the spokesman for the DELPHI detector team at LEP, the giant electron-positron collider at the European particle physics laboratory at CERN, Geneva. Amaldi was born in Rome on August 26, 1934, & graduated in physics from Rome University. He has been working regularly at CERN since 1971. The photograph was taken in 1989 and shows Amaldi in front of a part of the DELPHI detector.
