London, UK, 6th October 2016. Aysen from the Aylesbury Estate is interviewed for Australian TV outside the RIBA Stirling Prize. The protest pointed out that one of the shortlisted projects, Trafalgar Place, was built on the demolished Heygate Estate, which they say was 'stolen from the people' and hundreds of social housing tenants and leaseholders evicted and the site sold at one tenth of its value to the developers. Protesters from the Aylesbury estate, next door to Heygate, are fighting Southwark Council who they say are attempting a similar act of 'social cleansing', replacing social housing by properties for the wealthy and overseas investors.
