Princess Margaret of Connaught, grand daughter of Queen Victoria of England, married Gustav Adolf Crown Prince of Sweden in 1905, but died before she could become queen. She was an amateur painter and garden designer. The pavilion was built in 1914 as private quarters for the royal family during the Baltic Exhibition.
