= The Gate Church of St. John the Divine Framed by a Tree = View from the observation deck of Water Tower on the tall and slim gate church of Saint John the Divine framed by a tree on the grounds of Rostov Kremlin. The tall and slim church topped with beautiful green colored onion-shaped cupolas decorates the entrance to the Kremlin. It was constructed in 1670-1683, when the stronghold (fortress) of the city was rebuilt by Metropolitan Iona Sisoyevich as his Residence called "Metropolitytian’s Courtyard".
