As in former years, on Christmas Eve, we will assemble in theauditorium, where the story of Christmas will be emphasized insong and appropriate Scriptural selections, in which all of the boysparticipate. Following the program each youngster will receive abag of good things to eat. This good cheer bag has always beenmade possible by friends who understand that all boys have a sweettooth, and especially is this true at Christmas time. Whenit goes by in the street, we take offour hats, a little awardly sometimes,in peacetime a little casually, but stillwe take them off, standing a striflestraighter until it has passed. Wedont kneel down before it and knockowr heads on the pavement—it isntthat kind of flag—we just stand up atrifle straighter. Its an old friend,its always been there. Now andthen, we add a star. But, if you askedanybody you knew just how manystars he used to count in the flag whenhe was a boy, he might find it hard toremember. Its an old friend, alwaysbeen there, always going to be there. Whats the flag? Its the thirteenstripes of foundation and the forty-eight stars of union.
