Three Chimneys vertical strata. The strata formed by the gradual deposition of material over millions of years during the Silurian period (between 443 and 417 million years ago). Over time the entire bed was uplifted into a vertical position, before erosion by the sea and wind exposed the strata. Photographed at Marloes Bay, Pembrokeshire, Wales, UK.
