William F. Gude is one of the eleven Washingtonians who have received one of the commemorative medals awarded by Hon. Eugene Schneider, president of the French Economic Mission, in rec- ognition of their useful work on behalf of the mission during "the visit it so greatly appreciated in your ; The medal is in plaque shape, three inches long and two inches wide, and is of bronze. It was designed by the French artist, S. E. Vernier, and has Mr. Gude's name lettered on the re- verse side. During the stay of the mission at Washington, Mr. Gude ma- terially assisted the members and Miss Amelia Gude, one of the city's best •young woman drivers, served as chauf- feur for some of its members in a tour of the city and a visit to the Capitol. First prize for a commercial float was recently awarded to Gude Bros. Co. for its efforts on the occasion of the parade and pageant held as an aid to build in the city of Washington a replica of the home, in Georgia, of the mother of the late Theodore Roosevelt.
