Close-up of the amputated stump of the leg of an adult female patient with peripheral vascular disease, being dressed using the Vacuum Assisted Closure (VAC) technique. An old VAC dressing has been removed, due to MRSA (superbug) bacterial infection. This series of 9 images shows MRSA infection and a new VAC dressing being fitted. VAC closure uses negative pressure to pull the edges of the wound to the centre.
