Roan Edge Quarry, Cemex , New Hutton, Kendal and Lambrigg Wind Farm. Cumbria, England, United Kingdom, Europe.

Roan Edge Quarry is owned by Cemex UK. After several fallow years the quarry became active again in 2006, after being granted planning permission to deepen and extend the quarry. The quarry produces high-performance gritstone for use in road building. The supply of high PSV (polished stone value) aggregates is critical to the road construction industry. When it opened in September 2000, Lambrigg was the largest wind farm to be built in England since 1993 and each of the 5 turbines were named after school children from nearby Old Hutton and Grayrigg Primary schools. As well as being a wind farm Lambrigg, is also used for sheep farming.
