Coming to Upper Sandusky, Ohio, he started in the junk business, wherehe has been located ever since, and where he has been unusually successful. The Kaplans have six children, who, true to the family ideals, have allbeen well educated. Mr. Kaplan advises every progressive young man to work hard, save hismoney, and go into business for himself. This is the policy upon which hisown success was founded. Mr. and Mrs. Kaplan are very charitable, contributing to Los Angelesand Denver sanitariums as well as all local philanthropies. 143. Conservation is now the watchword which is helping us win thewar, and to the dealers in scrap iron and metal we owe much of our presentability to handle the vast problems which are confronting us. Prominent in this group of men we wish to mention the name of Kaplan of Detroit, Mich., owner and manager of the National Smeltingand Refining Company at ng Illinois street.
