When up and all danger of insects has passed, pull all out except three plants. Cultivate until the vines cover the ground, and pinch the ends off the growing shoots to in- duce early fruiting. Ashes, lime or even dry dust is ex- cellent to sift over the young plants when the dew is on to prevent the at- tacks of insects. Do not plant near pumpkins or mm IRONDEQUOIT. — Many customers visiting our trial grounds the past season pronounced this the finest in appear- ance, best flavored, and for all purposes the peer of Musk- melons. Our illustration shows a perfect melon. In form it is neaily1 round, slightly flattened at the ends, and is of good size. Melons round, thickly covered with heavy netting. The flesh is \very thick and solid, clear light green in color, shading to a rich salmon at the seed cavity.
