We have plotted composite antibody curA^es of all the asplenic and control animals andfor ready comparison havetransferred them to thesame chart so that themarked difference can beseen at a glance. Fig. 4 shows the com-posite curves of the he-molysins. We call espe-cial attention to thefollowing two points:I. The ultimate concen-. FiGURE 4. — Composite hemolysin curve of 7 con-trol and 8 splenectomized animals, showing markeddifference in the rate of formation and in concen- tration of the hemolvsinstration reached. = 7 control dogs. 8 splenectomized dogs. in the sera of the controlanimals (seven dogs) ismuch higher than in the sera of the splenectomized animals (eightdogs). If the tables are consulted, it will be found that on twenty-seven days the serum of the control animals laked goats corpusclesih a dilution of 1/24,576 or over. On fourteen of the twenty-sevendays the serum of these animals was found to possess lytic action in adilution of 1/98,304 and on eight days was found active in a dilutionof 1/49,152. Comparing these results with the splenectomized ani-mals, we find that on twelve days only was the serum active in a dilu-tion of 1/6144 or over. From the figure we see that the serum of theasplenic animals possessed only one-fourth the titre of the controlsat the hei
