Clitus (or Cleitus), also known as Clitus the Black, was an officer in the army of the Macedonian ruler Alexander the Great. It was Clitus who saved Alexander at the Battle of Granicus in 334 In 328 , Alexander put Clitus in charge of Bactria, but just before he was to take charge, Alexander organized a party/banquet. All drank too much and Alexander took Clitus' words as an insult and then hurled a spear at him and killed him.
