San Pedro town and the Estrecho de Tiquina on the shore of Lake Titicaca in Bolivia
Lake Titicaca is situated on the Bolivian and Peru border at the northern end of the Altiplano. At an altitude of 3810 metres above sea level it is the highest navigable lake in the world. The lake measures some 190 kilometre by 80 kilometres The area around the lake is the heartland of the Aymara. The Lake was also the centre of Inca religious beliefs and remains of the Incas civilisation can be seen on the Island of the Moon and Sun. San Pedro town faces Tiquina across the Estrecho de Tiquina which seperates the Winay Marka with the major part of the lake. A ferry connects the two towns.
