The Grot and Waterfall, Rydal Hall, Cumbria.

The Grot and Waterfall, Rydal Hall, Cumbria. The Grot is a grade II listed building built in 1668 to provide a window to frame the view of the lower Rydal Beck waterfall. It became famous as part of the Picturesque movement (1780s to 1830s) as an example of a wild and rugged scene to inspire dramatic landscape painting. The building was restored around three years ago and is now as it was 350 years ago.
