Lectotype selected by Johnson (1964, pi 28 fig. 3) (USNM 553). Hedley (1909) introduced the replacement name P. rugosus because L. seminula is preoccupied. The specimen from the type locality illustrated in Fig. 18 was given by Gould to Cuming. Type LOCALITY. Hong Kong Harbour, 9-18 m. Shell description. Shell solid, small, height to a maximum of , subcircular in outline, H/L mean ; moderately inflated, T/L mean , tumidity to a maximum of mm on a single valve. Shell inequilateral and extended towards anterior. Pronounced pos- terior sulcus with concentric lamellae. Anteriorly, there is a narrow sulcus. Lunule small, heart-shaped.
