Most availed themselves of thepermission. Captain Daniel Brodhead had died aboutthree months after his suspension, leaving a widow andthree sons, Daniel, Charles and Richard. These sonsmarried and their descendants have been among theforemost of Ulster county families for almost two hun-dred and fifty years. A tract of land was set apartfor the widow, Mrs. Anna Brodhead, at Marbletown,and her name thereafter appears as a prominent land-holder. 72 Old Ulster in the Electoral Colleges. N the year 1904 Old Ulster received the highhonor of the nomination of one of her sonsby one of the great political parties of theUnited States for the eminent office ofPresident of the United States. The pur-pose of this paper is to put on historicalrecord all similar honors to Ulsters sons asthe electoral colleges in various states havedesignated Ulster county men as theirchoice for either President or Vice-President of theUnited States. In the early presidential elections itwas rare when some electoral college did not thusname a resident or at least a native of this old the Revolution, when the names of GeorgeClinton and Charles De Witt were proposed for elec-tion to Congress, Cadwallader Colden, the Governorunder Royal authority, objected because • they arefiery young radicals. These men were at one withSamuel and John Adams in Massachusetts, and withThomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry in Virginia in thebattle
