ISS experiment. Close-up of the Burning and Suppression of Solids (BASS) experiment conducted onboard the International Space Station (ISS). This experiment was conducted by Reid Wiseman, Expedition 40 flight engineer. It examines the burning and extinction characteristics of a wide variety of fuel samples in microgravity. It aims to help guide strategies for extinguishing fires in microgravity and on Earth. Photographed on 27th June 2014.
