The moment when the kites collide. Penuwc, images of an intense grapple between two red kites have been captured in a Welsh back garde

One of the kites flying away with ruffled feathers. Penuwc, images of an intense grapple between two red kites have been captured in a Welsh back garden. One of the images shows the exact moment when one kite swoops down to attack the other in Penuwc, Wales with the battered loser seen flying off with its feathers in disarray. A kite?s wingspan can reach up to six feet. They are native birds of prey in the UK. These images were shot by photographer Mark Rolph (56) using a Nikon D500 with a 200-500 zoom lens. ?Here in West Wales, kites visit my garden and smallholding most days, looking to see what they can scavenge,? said Mark. ?Sometimes I can have up to fifty Kites circling overhead and occasionally they will scrap over food or even pass it to one another during courtship. ?They often fly over and perform these aerobatic stunts but not so often do they grapple and hold on to each other as shown in some of my photos. ?I love the challenge of capturing these birds in unusual positions as they duck and dive at high speed in the mediadrumimages/MarkRolph
