A vertical line by the ship on the left and another by the bow of a kaag, both numbered 4, illustrate a method of drawing in correct perspective. The two figures in the foreground are carefully drawn so that the head of the four foot high boy reaches the horizon line. The drawing is rubbed on the back indicating that an offset has probably been taken from it. A kaag near the shore . circa 1665.
