Donald Dewar was a Scottish politician. As a member of the Labor Party, he represented Scotland in the British Parliament in 1966–1970 and then again from 1978. Until his death in 2000 he was Scotland's First Minister. His bronze statue overlooks Buchanan Street, one of city’s finest thoroughfares, and stands on the steps of the Royal Concert Hall. The statue was unveiled on 7 May 2002.
