Facades of a number of the Guild Houses, The Maison des Ducs de Brabant, east side of the Grand Place, Brussels, Bruxelles

The facades of a number of the guild halls in the Grand Place, Brussels. Originally the city's central market place, the Grand-Place is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Ornate buildings line the square, including guild halls, the Brussels Town Hall, and the Breadhouse, and seven cobbelstone streets feed into it. The Maison des Ducs de Brabant (pictured)—so called because of the aristocratic sculptures adorning its frontage—houses seven of the Grand Place’s guildhalls, among them the headquarters of the old millers, tanners, carpenters, stonemasons, and woodworkers.
