Newburyport Range Lights, rear range light, in Newburyport, Massachusette, was established in 1871, and deactivated in 1961. Range lights worked together to aid mariners to find their safe passage by lining up the front and rear lights to establish that they were in the safe channel of the Merrimac River. The lights are no longer active.
