VIETNAM - CAN THO - A CAPITAL INTERFACE The Mekong Delta provides nearly 40% of Vietnam's food production. Can Tho, a hub city in the midst of a vast network of canals, is the nerve center of the region's commercial and cultural activities. Place of trade, the commodities of all the delta are exchanged here. On the river or under hangars, huge markets are present in the four corners of the agglomeration. Can Tho also asserts itself as a cultural center, with its unique university complex attracting students from all over the region. But his ambitions do not stop there. Can Tho, ville carrefour au milieu d’un vaste réseaux de canaux, est le centre névralgique des activités commerciales et culturelles de la région. Lieu de négoce, les denrées de tout le delta s’échangent ici. Sur le fleuve ou sous des hangars, d’immenses marchés sont présents au quatre coins de l’agglomération. Can Tho s’affirme également comme centre culturel, avec notamment son complexe universitaire unique qui attire des étudiants de toute la région. Mais ses ambitions ne s’arrêtent pas là. Avec ses 1,2 millions d’habitants, elle compte bien continuer à surfer sur l’essor économique du Delta du Mekong et assumer pleinement son rôle de capitale. La ville de Can Tho est désormais reliée à Ho-Chi-Minh-Ville par une nouvelle autoroute. La modernisation est en marche.
