Vive La Republique. John Tenniel Punch cartoon 1894

From an original John Tenniel (1820-1914) Punch cartoon of 1894 referring to the Anarchist problem in France. In February Emile Henry detonated a bomb at the Café Terminus in the Parisian Gare Saint-Lazare killing one person and wounding twenty. There's an argument for calling him the World's first modern terrorist as he casually walked past other cafes to select the one that was most full. Later in June the French President was assassinated by an Italian anarchist Sante Geronimo Caserio.
