The Darjeeling Himalayan railway taking a 360 degree turn on the Batasia loop and war memorial in Ghum, West Bengal, India. The narrow guage toy train started service in 1881, connecting the hill town to 'New Jalpaiguri' in the plains. The steam engine hauled joy ride between Darjeeling and Ghum is a popular draw with the tourists. On 5 Dec. 1999, DHR was inscribed on the World Heritage list by UNESCO.
