Japanese Tancho cranes in Hokkaido Japan Asia


The Kushiro Marshkand National Park, which encompasses Japan's largest marshland, and the home to some 300 tancho or sacred red-crested cranes, which are ddesignated by the Japanese govermment as "national monuments."In the summer they live in the marshland, but in the winter they migrate in search of food and move closer to human habitation. Since 1983, conservation efforts for the tancho cranes have gained momentum.
