He is one of a number of Portuguese immigrants & EU Nationals who work in the farm fields during the summer, doing back-breaking work gathering the salad crops to fulfil supermarket orders. Work started early as outbreaks of rain are forecast to spreading across the region by lunchtime, turning heavy in places.
The top grade farming land in West Lancashire means that employment in agriculture in the authority is by far the highest of any in Lancashire.
