The manufac-ture of artificial fuels, salt, explosives, pigments, paper, etc. The course is supplemented by frequent trips to industrial plants inthe immediate vicinity, on which the student is required to hand in areport. Text-book: Thorpes Outlines of Industrial Chemistry. Course 6 alternates with course 5. Offered DEPARTMENT OF INSTRUCTION 49 Physics PROFESSOR WANNER 1. General Physics—Four hours. Throughout the Threehours lectures and recitations and four hours laboratory work. First Semester—Mechanics of solids, liquids and gases. Sound. Second Semester—Heat, light, magnetism, and electricity. The aim of the course is to give the student a good knowledge ofcollege physics. Text-books: Crews General Physics is used in the class room andAmes and Blisss Manuel of Experiments in Physics, also parts ofNichols Laboratory Manual of Physics and applied Electricity in thelaboratory. 2.
